Family Newsletters

Many days we are faced with challenges such as receiving poor feedback on a test, being excluded by peers, or coping with conflict within our family.  While we can’t control such challenges, we have a choice to get stuck and feel down when negative events happen, or to take proactive steps to bounce back from such difficulties. Resilience is the ability to adapt to big and small challenges in our life. Being resilient helps us to feel happier, get along better with others, and even to feel more motivated in school. Fortunately, resilience is something that we can strengthen, like a muscle, by learning and practicing skills to become more resilient.

The Resilience Builder Program®-Universal is designed to teach students skills to become more resilient.  Students will participate in 25 brief lessons led by their teachers to learn proactive skills to become more resilient such as being mentally flexible, coping with anxiety, and managing frustration.  Lessons will include videos to introduce these skills with brief activities to practice in class. Students will also learn ways to help regulate their bodies including breathing exercises and muscle relaxation. Families can use the below newsletters to support their child in practicing resilience skills at home.
